Eliminating Barriers for Learning - Social & Emotional Factors that Enhance Education

Mental Health - It's part of our classroom!


Serious emotional disturbances affect 5-9 percent of American children and adolescents each year.  This means that, on average, one or more students in every middle or high school classroom could be affected.


This workshop aims to help eliminate barriers to learning by understanding and addressing mental health issues int he school environment.  It offers information on adolescent social-emotional wellness and provides specific skill-based techniques for classroom use.

Suicidal behavior in children age 12 or younger is a subject of growing concern for professionals working with children.  Suicidal thoughts and attempts in children are oftentimes overlooked, denied or ignored. This interactive workshop examines the phenomena of child suicide through case studies and group discussion.  Information about intervention strategies is provided, but this course primarily focuses on Building Resilience in children as a proven method to prevent suicide both in childhood and later life.

This training is a combination of video and case studies designed for all professionals working with children..
